Street signs in Rennes are quite educational. In case the street is named after a person – and many of them are – the signs always give the birth and death year as well as the profession of the eponym.

So, Adolphe Orain, born in the first half of the 19th century, got quite old: 84 years. I guess the last years of his life were not the best, not only due to his age, but it was war time.

He was journalist. Let’s see, whether Wikipedia knows him: Voilà, here is the link. Ok, he only got 83 years old as he died a few days before his 84th birthday. The site is only available in French and Breton – so he was a local writer. However, according Wikipedia he was a historian and folklorist – well, I am not sure what the latter really means. His tomb is at the Northern cemetery at Rennes. One reason to visit the place.
