The Chrismas day as warm as the days before with spring feeling. For quite a while I wanted to walk along this part of the river or canal in Rennes. I see from the bus to work a small path going along the river – just an invitation to walk along.
So quite at the beginning I learned that this path is called fil de l’eau, something like thread/strand of water. There are several places of interest.
And one of the beginning of the tour, which is not on the plate:
If I am not mistaken it is a beaver – but I am not sure. If it had not been for the head and the read teeth it could be a big cat – despite the fact that cats do not like to swim. This encounter was quite a surprise and is probably a testament to the rather natural niches in Rennes.
So, here is one of the expected places to seeL the old lavoir, washing house, where troubled youth used to wash the laundry for nearby barracks. Nowadays, it hosts a youth center. Behind the walls on the right side is a nice little park, parc de Cyr.
The sunshine of the afternoon was capyured in these fluffy flowery parts of a plant, with the river as background
and once with the chimney of the old wash house.
At the end of the walk is a sluice, which is nicely framed by trees in autumnal dress as shown in the featured image.
