I just love the old houses in Brittany built with natural stones. And the surrounding walls are the same stone. They are irregular enough that there are gaps and openings, allowing plants to grow on them. And the walls build the ideal background for all the flowers in the gardens such as red roses.
The texture of the stones make them so interesting to look at, I want to touch the stones, feel their roughness, their smoothness, their heat in summer, their cold in winter. And I love the use of fresh colors for the doors, windows and their shutters – they are either intensive, red, green or blue or a light blue as in this case. The grey stone goes so well with the colors as well as with the green of the grass and the lavender.
The old wood has also its own texture – largely covered under the paint, but yet it is there.
And with changing focus the scene looks suddenly very differently.
And who dares to walk up the stairs? We do not want to step on the beautiful daisies. To make the picture perfect I would love to see a cat sleeping between all the daisies.
