The featured image is the gate to an old building, a former manufacturing hall, I guess. It looks deserted, and actually the whole street does.
After walking around for a while my suspicion that this place will be gone soon, was confirmed:
The permission to tear the building down and the permission to build something new. I see these signs more and more often in Rennes. It is not always only old, wore-down houses whose remaining days are counted.
It reminds be a little bit of Baku, though in Baku whole neighborhoods were destroyed and owners were not compensated properly. But still, I feel too much of Rennes’ history may be lost. New apartment buildings in Rennes, as almost everywhere in the world, look very much the same. They have their own, I guess French modern style, but still they look all the same and quite sterile.
